Open to horses and ponies ridden by a junior or adult amateur who have never shown over fences 2’9” or higher. To be shown over a course of hunter type fences 2’3” in height. No trotting allowed. Points accrue to the horse or pony. Year-end awards go to the horse/pony.

How will an open 2'3 class be considered? Must a division/class be designated jr/am for it to count for SAHJA points or will the juniors and amateurs be pointed by taking their names from the results of the open classes? (e.g. a 2'3" Open Hunter division at Let's Show or Brookside?)

Really love this idea. Gives short/Long S. people a place to move up to but not at the 2'6" level.

The wording for the specifications is a little confusing, is it the horse or rider that cannot have shown over 2'9"? And never? What if someone is coming back to showing after a long (>5yrs) break and needs to rebuild show skills? Maybe a time limit since showing that height could be a consideration. If the division is only for jr/am, why not include that in the name- Beginning Jr/Am Low Hunters. Specifications aside, will shows have time in their already busy schedules to add another division?
