Tracking Your Points
As the show season launches into full swing, it’s a good idea to remember that each SAHJA member is ultimately responsible for their point totals at the end of the year. The points committee does a great job keeping track of 300+ members, a multitude of shows and 19 divisions, but you should be aware of your points accumulation, and not leave it up to someone else to be sure your year-end totals are correct.
Below are a few suggestions to easily keep track of your points throughout the season:

Below are a few suggestions to easily keep track of your points throughout the season:
- At each show, keep track of your placings in each class, including the number of participants in the class.
- Make sure that your horse is entered by the same name at each show. Do not use the barn name to enter, unless the horse shows under the barn name. If you want to change your horse’s name, please notify SAHJA in writing at [email protected]. You must submit notification of a change before showing as points are not retroactive.
- Also make sure that the owner is always the same, and remember, the owner MUST be a member for the horse to earn points.
- Points are usually published in the newsletter and online within three weeks of the show closing. Please review regularly. For shows that report to horseshowtime.com, you can double check your notes with what is reported by the show managers. Discrepancies in show reports can only be corrected by the show manager.
- The best way to ensure accuracy is to check your show bill prior to closing out at the show. Make sure your name and your horse’s name are spelled the same as on your membership. Make sure the class results are accurate and if not, request that the judge’s card be pulled for verification.
- Finally, refer to the Rule Book SAHJA Points Structure Chart.
